PhD project overview:

The research program aims at identifying molecular networks governing T cell senescence and exhaustion during ageing. The selected candidate will implement a combination of high-throughput proteomic and phosphoproteomic analyses to investigate the early mechanism leading to senescent T cell activation. The gained fundamental knowledge will then be applied to better characterize responses associated with T-cell senescence and to possibly restore normal inflammatory and proliferative responses in senescent T cells.

The group focus:

The project will benefit from a lab environment dedicated to the detailed mechanistic understanding of the biology of T lymphocytes in the context of health and disease. Our lab has assembled an original combination of technological expertise, mainly quantitative microscopy approaches and proteomics to unravel novel molecular mechanisms that tune lymphocyte signaling and to investigate how such mechanisms control functional responses in vivo in murine models.

The Toulouse Institute for Infectious and Inflammatory diseases (INFINITY) provides a stimulating environment to perform state-of-the-art research in immunology and infectious diseases, with integrated on-site technological facilities. Research teams at the Center host international trainees of various nationalities, ranging from undergraduate students to postdocs. External seminars and lab meetings are held in English. The CPTP is located in Toulouse, a dynamic city in the Southwest of France, 1-hr away from Paris by plane.

Requirements and desired qualifications:

  • Must have an excellent M.Sc. or equivalent degree
  • Experience in cellular and molecular immunology
  • Experience in molecular biology and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing
  • Background in large data processing tools
  • Team-orientated personality

Start date of the thesis:

October or November 2021

Salary:

PhD student, 3 year contract
